In 1894 work had begun to construct a Tramway to carry Mother of Pearl Shell from Streeter & Male Jetties to the Goods Shed.
The boom of the Mother of Pearl Industry secured the tramway line and it became a catalyst to the growth of Broome.
The Broome Tramway was used by all and became part of the Broome way of life.
